Mosaic Project for Virgil’s Aeneid

This project may be submitted to State and National Conventions under Tile Mosaic or Mosaic Other)

 

Required Checklist for Mosaic Project (90% of the total grade): 

*Warning This choice can be very time-consuming, especially bead mosaics! 

 

FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW WHEN PREPARING YOUR PROJECT!!!

 

1.  at least 3 details from episode must be included in the central image of the

                   mosaic (people/objects/events)

 

2. abstract designs/patterns can be used for borders/framing, not as central image

 

3. base must not be bendable in any way - use wood or strong plastic;

                   do not use poster board or foam poster board

 

4. materials for this project will require a small purchase

 

 5. ceramic/glass/plastic/wooden tiles or beads must be used - no food, seeds, beans, pasta are permitted

 

6. at least 5 different colors of tiles/beads must be used to create overall picture

 

 7. tiles/beads must be attached to firm base by ‘double stick craft tape’ (the kind

with orange cellophane which is peeled off - YOU CAN SEE THROUGH IT) - points will be deducted for lost tiles/beads

 

 8. must be at least 1 square foot but no more than 5 square feet in size

 

 9. completed mosaic must create easily recognizable picture which pertains directly to the episode

 

 10. surface of the mosaic should be flat and smooth, not jagged/bumpy/3D

 

 ***ONLY FOR TILE MOSAICS***

11. *grout must be used to fill in spaces between tiles; bead mosaics don’t need grout

 

Overall Quality and Effectiveness (10% of the total grade)
