7. Odyssey Project: Multimedia (not for 6th Grade)
Students may follow the 2010 Convention Theme so that the project may be submitted to convention. It is not required for the Celebration project to follow the convention theme.
The 2010 State Convention Theme is: "Aut viam veniam aut faciam." I shall either find a way or make one – Hannibal (Carthaginian general)
Checklist/Rules for Multimedia Project:
1. The project must be created on a CD or burned onto a CD that will play in a normal computer.
2. Student must submit 2 copies of the project (one for each teacher).
3. Programs that may be used to create the project include: Macromedia Flash, and PowerPoint. Claymation has also been done successfully but is very time consuming. If you have another, see teacher for permission. N.B. Students must work a bit harder to get the ‘action’ factor in PowerPoint presentations.
3. At least 10 ‘details from the episode’ must be represented within the show.
4. Student must use a variety of sound effects and music throughout the show.
5. Caveat: By law, an educational multimedia may use up to 10% of an individual music work but no more than 30 seconds of music and lyrics from an individual music work.
6. Student must give proper credit to pre-recorded music or media.
7. Student must run all text through a spell check and grammar check before putting it into project.
8. Animations must have captions to help viewers understand the action/pictures.
9. Animations are most effective with the addition of well-placed voice-overs if the student is competent in this area. It is not required.
8. The required length of the complete show is: Minimum of 4 minutes to Maximum of 12 minutes. Most effective movies are in the 4-6 minute range. The longer the show is the more animated/varied/compelling/ it has to be to maintain interest of viewers. . Teachers will also use the following four criteria to grade projects:
