6th Grade Project for Ovid’s Metamorphoses

Every year, the Latin program hosts the Celebration of the Classics, a marathon reading of  an important work from classical literature.  This year, we will read Ovid’s Metamorphoses.  As part of this event, all 6th graders will complete a project on a story from Ovid.  Stories will be randomly assigned.  Stories may be traded with others in the same grade.

 Schedule of Assignments

 1.  A Summary of the Story in Your Own Words    Due:___________________________      

Rules:  This is a pre-project graded assignment

1. The document must be typed, double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font

2. The margins should be one inch, top, bottom, left and right.

3. You must save your document in a file that you can access to make revisions.

4. You must type your name and the title of story at the top of the page.

5. Write the summary of your story in your own words in a paragraph of 5-8 complete sentences.

6. There should not be misspellings or serious grammar/punctuation problems

    (use spell-check and grammar-check if you are unsure)!

 

2. A List of Details from Your Story                          Due:___________________________

Rules:  This is a pre-project graded assignment

     e.g., people, objects, places - do not include abstract details like love, fear, etc

6. You will explain how or why each of your details is relevant to the story.

7. There should not be misspellings or serious grammar/punctuation problems;

    (use spell-check and grammar-check if you are unsure)!

2. You will cut and paste your polished summary into the document. 

3. You will re-type or paste your details into the document.
