AP U.S. History: D Bell and E Bell; Ms. Cronin and Mr. Jedding (with Mr. Ackley on Sunday Sessions when Possible)
*This syllabus is subject to change at any time by the teacher. Changes announced in class take precedence over the on-line syllabus at all times, students who are absent should always call someone from their bell (not a different bell) to find out what they have missed, DO NOT just rely on this webpage as we do not have the time to update it on a daily basis.
**reading and assignments are listed next to the days they are due, since the Summit syllabus rotates and the 2 AP U.S. bells do not meet on the same days you are responsible for matching the 3 days we meet in a given week with the correct dates for your bell.

Quiz Open Notes if they are Handwritten in Your own Handwriting DAY 2: Chapters 29 and 30 Quiz Open Notes if they are Handwritten in Your own Handwriting DAY 3: Chapters 31 and 32 Quiz Open Notes if they are Handwritten in Your own Handwriting (Saturday May 2nd or Sunday May 3rd your choice for your Summit Exam, times to be discussed in class but Sunday will be afternoon after Camerata sings during Campus Day since this is Campus Day; IF you cannot do the weekend exam then every class period during the week of May 4-8th will be pieces of your exam and the whole week turns into one giant exam for you, I don't recommend it because it's more stressful and it gives you no sense of the timing of the real exam you have on the 8th but if you can't make the weekend then you'll have to do it that way. If you are in E bell you won't have a third class and your exam will involve both your bells and you'll have to stay after school one day before Friday in order to get it all 3 parts of the exam done)

Written Homework for this Week: The written assignment for this week is another DBQ which you can find in the course document bin on blackboard, this one is not simply for credit and will receive a grade. Since we can't actually enforce time limits (70 total minutes assuming you steal 5 minutes from each FRQ suggested time) on a take-home DBQ no one who does the take home version can write more than 5 sides of paper using normal size handwriting. Also we will give extra points to anyone who is willing to do it after school from 3:20-4:30 or during an H bell either from 11-12:10 or 11:35 to 12:45 either day if you have a day where you don't have an H bell and can fit in lunch. But you have to let us know ahead of time if you are going to do this. The in school DBQ for extra points added to the grade will not be the same DBQ as the one in the course document bin. And no you can't do both. I don't know if any of you have free bells, but if you do that would be another way to do it in school with the time limits enforced for extra points.

Keep in Mind that the Saturday morning sessions that start on March 21st NOT this week are for review, while the Sunday sessions are to cover the material that we will not get to in class before spring break and will be covered at a chapter a day after spring break. The Sunday sessions will make the material much easier to follow for those of you who can make it than shoving everything in at a chapter a day after break. If you can't make it then read those chapters on the weekend so that you are on the same pace as those who can.
WEEKEND OPTION POST 1920s COVERAGE WITH CRONIN/JEDDING LEADING: SUNDAY MARCH 15 NOON-2PM TOPIC: THE 1930s, GREAT DEPRESSION AND NEW DEAL; Chapters 25-26. This is if people sign-up so please see sign up sheet in Mr. Ackley's room.
There is NO Saturday review option this week, Saturday student run group review is available March 21, 28 and April 4, 25 with material provided by teachers. HOWEVER, if Mr. Ackley's health continues to improve so rapidly he will be leading these review sessions. If significant numbers of you are in town for either spring break Saturday and wish to review contact Ms. Cronin and we can discuss setting up a session on April 11th or 18th.
