The second grade math program covers many topics.  During the 1st quarter we focus on mastering the basic addition and subtraction facts through 10.  The facts through 18 will be mastered throughout the year.  This is a basic building block for the comprehension of higher computational mathematical problems.  The place value of numbers is also stressed and the children use many manipulatives to fully understand this concept.  Money, time, and measurement are reviewed for further advancement in this area.

A big component of our math program is the development of problem solving skills.  The children will learn step-by-step strategies to become competent and confident problem solvers.
