Mrs. Kessel's Homework Rules

 Homework Tips for Parents

1.   Set aside a specific time for your child to do homework each night.  This will help eliminate procrastination.

2.   Designate a quiet and well-lit place for your child to work.

3.   Protect your child from annoying distractions.  establish a quiet zone.

4.   Be sure your child has the necessary materials and supplies at hand to support his/her homework (e.g., pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener, ruler, paper, etc.)  Create a "school-office" atmosphere for your child.

5.   Stay in close proximity to your child during homework time.

6.   Always check your child's homework for quality and completeness.

7.   Homework should be thought of as an extension of your child's classroom.  It is an opportunity for your child to review, practice, and rehearse material that has been previously taught.
