My name is Sherry Schneider. A lifer, I am a graduate of The Summit.
I am excited about returning to my alma mater and teaching First Grade here.
This is my eighth year teaching first grade at The Summit.
I have four boys. My twins, Ryan and Kyle, are in fifth grade at The
Summit. Jacob, my middle son, just turned nine in June. I have a five
year old named Luke Benjamin. He was born August 28th
and just turned five. Cocoa is
our thirteen year old chocolate lab.
I was a first
grade teacher at Cardinal Pacelli School for ten years, and I have been tutoring
students in all subjects from kindergarten through eighth grade for the last
ten years as well. Previously I taught Montessori at Cincinnati Country Day
School for three years after I had completed my student teaching at The Summit Montessori
School for a semester.
I graduated from Miami University and Xavier
University in Elementary Education and Montessori. I have a Masters in
Special Education from Xavier University. I am also trained in the Orton
Gillingham method for teaching reading, writing, and spelling. The Orton
Gillingham method is a multisensory approach similar to the Montessori method in
teaching children how to read and write.
