Homework_Guidelines

• Homework is sent home on Monday (or the first day of the week) in the student homework folder.

• Please do homework in pencil.  Work neatly and use your best handwriting.  Students are responsible for spelling words from the 1st Grade Spelling list correctly, as well as words introduced from the 2nd Grade Spelling list.

• Homework is due on Friday morning, in the homework folder.

Suggestions

• Establish a regular time to do homework.  Consistency is important.

• Create a place to do homework.

• Gather materials needed for assignments, such as pencils, dictionaries, etc.

• Go over the directions with the student.  Help the student do the first step or first example.

• Encourage the student to take responsibility for their own learning. 

• Step in before your child becomes frustrated and discouraged.

• You may need to work with your child to complete the homework.

• Check the child's homework.  It's a good idea to have the child explain what they did to be sure they understand the concepts and skills that are being reinforced.
