The Summit faculty and staff devoted this month’s in-service day to exploring religious diversity within the school and the broader community. The program, organized by Lower School Director Mike Johnson, took place on February 17.

The day opened with an interfaith service in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, led by Summit chaplains and special guest Rabbi Abie Ingber.

Following the service, faculty and staff gathered in St. Cecilia’s Hall, where they enjoyed Yemeni coffee and tea provided by Moka & Co. and participated in interdivisional discussions on how The Summit can continue to support students of all faiths and backgrounds.

Rabbi Ingber shared stories from his extensive interfaith work and offered insights into the importance of inclusive religious practices and spaces. A panel then reflected on the day’s themes and shared personal experiences related to religious diversity. Panelists included Summit parents David Jackson and Divya Divakaran, Summit parent and K-6 Sports Program Co-Coordinator Chris Woodard, and Sr. Kristin Matthes of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
