Dear Summit Alumni,
Wow! The Summit Community is as vibrant as ever! Much has happened since the start of the 133rd school year and we have plenty of events and opportunities for engagement yet to come.
Last month, we celebrated Homecoming & Reunion Weekend - the first time reunions have been on campus in almost ten years! Friday night, during the Fall Festival and Homecoming game, I connected with several alumni who were in town for their reunion and alumni who send their children to Summit. Saturday night, I joined Head of School, Kelley Schiess, and over 100 other alumni to celebrate the reunions of upper school class years ending in 2’s and 7’s and middle school years ending in 3’s and 8’s. The campus was lively that night with students, alumni, faculty and staff.
I was given a sneak peek of the renovation of St. Cecilia’s Hall which is scheduled to complete in November – what a transformation it will be! The renovation adds a tiered balcony to the rear wall with floating stairs on either side, an enlarged performance stage with state-of-the-art audio/visual technology, and a beautiful new coffered ceiling. During the demo phase of the renovation, contractors uncovered 4 stained glass windows high in each corner of the room - that had previously been concealed in the walls – covered over and hidden from view for years (likely decades!). I was happy to learn that these 4 stained glass windows are intact and will become visible once again.
I want you to know the incredible work your Alumni Board is doing to engage fellow alumni and carry out the mission of the Board. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the Board members who were part of the committee that developed the Alumni Board’s 2022-2027 strategic plan - Jamelle Bowers MD ’88, Andrew Kiley ’94, Chip Heidt SMS ’98, Nabeel Kaukab BMS ’90, Past President Missy (Segal) Fox ’88 and Vice President/AAN Chair Tommy Kreyenhagen ’12. Thank you for your hard work and leadership in creating a plan that will project the Alumni Board into great measurable success for now and in the future.
Lastly, please check the Alumni section of Summit's website to see all upcoming alumni events. I encourage everyone to attend and get involved. We are always seeking volunteers and value any opportunity to connect with our alumni. If you’re interested in being on the Alumni Board or simply want to get involved, please contact me to discuss the next steps and opportunities.
