An Eagle Scout, Summit Hope Squad member, student ambassador, Summit band member and athlete on the cross country, tennis and indoor track teams, Summit senior Grant Gerhardt, Colerain Township, has been named a semifinalist in the annual National Merit Scholarship Corporation Program.

Grant has taken advantage of The Summit’s rigorous academic curriculum and advanced placement courses, been a part of extracurricular clubs and sports teams and spent time volunteering.

He showed leadership in completing his Eagle Scout project, which consisted of building raised garden boxes for Summit’s Montessori preschool.

His leadership continued as a member of the school’s inaugural Hope Squad. He was nominated by his peers to be a part of the organization. His participation in the local Hope Squad conference his sophomore year shows his commitment to his peers’ social-emotional wellness.

Grant has been called on numerous times to represent the school to prospective students. He guided middle schoolers through the Upper School and often served as ambassador for the band program, a program he knows well.

Dating back to freshman year, he’s played the trumpet for Summit’s band and numerous ensemble groups. He was a regular participant in Ohio Music Education Association solo and ensemble performances and often accompanies various Summit events during the school year.

As a student-athlete, he played tennis and ran cross country and track. In his junior season, Summit won a cross country state championship.

Grant’s extracurricular clubs included Writing Club, Math Club, Biology Club,  Photography Club and National Honor Society.
