Summit senior and former Homan Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership student Claire Wiltshire also gave a presentation on her successful business, Clarity, which she started through the class.

The Venture Design Expo was student-led and more dynamic than a traditional pitch presentation. Rather than simply showcasing business ideas, students demonstrated and explained the full entrepreneurial process using their own business models created throughout the school year.

Students identified five functional disciplines of entrepreneurship: development, marketing, operations, finance and leadership. Attendees spent time with groups representing each of the five areas. Insightful questions from the audience allowed students to expand on their understanding of business design, defend their own decisions and evaluate alternative perspectives. Team structures also played a key role, allowing students to support one another and respond effectively to visitors’ questions. Positive feedback from attendees reinforced students’ confidence and highlighted the importance of being able to clearly explain complex ideas.
