Lower School gives back

The Lower School's spring service project came to a close when students took a field trip to deliver Easter goodies to a nonprofit organization in Blue Ash.

Through the generous donations provided by our Summit community, 250 bags were filled with healthy snacks, breakfast bars, fruit snacks, pencils, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, small Easter toys, candy and filled plastic eggs.

The children also worked in the classroom to fill some empty eggs with Easter treats. They traveled down an assembly line and chose what to add to their bags. Each bag was decorated by a student and included a handmade Easter card with a scripture verse. Recipients of the bags were encouraged to choose something inside and pay it forward.

The fourth graders selected to deliver the bags to Operation Give Back (OGB) were joined by four first graders who made their own special contribution to the project. Cate and Sam Lallathin, Bianca Pan and Cami Meyer each held a new book drive instead of receiving birthday gifts this year, filling three bins with reading material. OGB will distribute the gifts to the children served by the organization, which provides families and children with access to tutoring, counseling, afterschool activities and a food pantry.
