Summit middle school track and field athletes brought home championships and medals from two separate meets last weekend.
Eighth grader Ama Karikari competed in two events at the OHSAA state junior high meet on Saturday in Hilliard. She finished first and set a new state record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.17 seconds. In her earlier race, the 100-meter dash, she was the runner up and earned a silver medal.
At the same time, her teammates were competing in the CYO Championship meet without one of their best runners. The girls 7/8 team of seven still won its first city title in school history. With six athletes, the boys 7/8 team placed third, Summit's highest finish for middle school boys.
Congratulations to these athletes and their coaches for a spectacular season!
