Rising Summit senior wins third place in statewide essay contest
Summit student finishes third in essay contest

 

Rising Summit senior Graham Nicholson, Anderson Township, was awarded third place in a statewide writing competition administered by the Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (OHSSAR).

In February, Graham finished first in the Cincinnati Chapter of the George S. & Stella M. Knight contest for his essay, “Unconstitutional Use of the Commerce Clause.”

Graham received a letter of recognition, an award certificate and a $200 scholarship prize.

The OHSSAR is made up of 23 active chapters within the state and is part of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR). The national society was founded in 1889 and boasts tens of thousands of active members in more than 550 chapters across the United States. The society is a nonprofit, historical, educational and patriotic organization that seeks to preserve the institutions of American freedom, patriotism, reverence for national symbols, the value of American citizenship and unification of one nation and one people.
