Senior named semifinalist in competitive Coca-Cola Scholar Program

Rimel Kamran '23 was recently named a semifinalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program.

Of more than 91,000 applicants nationwide, she will join only 1,557 students in advancing to the next round in competition for the prestigious Coca-Cola scholarship. Criteria for selection is based on academic excellence, leadership and service demonstrated in school and community activities.

“Rimel has proven herself to be an extremely intelligent, motivated student,” said Kelly Cronin, head of the Upper School division at The Summit. “She continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to the rigorous program offered at The Summit and to her own personal growth. We are very proud to celebrate this achievement with Rimel and her family.”

As a semifinalist, Rimel will submit an essay, a recommendation and transcript for review by an independent selection committee. If chosen as a regional finalist, she will participate in online interviews. The committee will ultimately name 150 Coca-Cola Scholars in March 2023. These outstanding seniors will receive $20,000 college scholarships and participate in the Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Development Institute facilitated by program alumni.

A joint effort of Coca-Cola bottlers across the country and The Coca-Cola Company, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States.
