Summit Latin students excel on classical etymology exam

Several students from The Summit Country Day School took the Classical Etymology Exam online. 26 percent of The Summit students, who took the exam, earned awards.

The following students earned awards:

Gold Medal: Irene Calderon, Callie Fox, Aaron Fraley, Sophia Nery and Harper Wood.

Silver Medal: Katie Buckius, Benedict Domville, Drew Fletcher, Jimmy Fraley, Kate McLane, Benny Penote, Mia Rahner and Grace Tounge.

Bronze Medal: Emily Bolan, Jackson Curt, Allison Ebken, Zaina Kamran, Ethan Lam, Claire Lamarre, William McLane and Kira Njegovan.

The Classical Etymology Exam was 50 multiple-choice questions designed to test a student’s knowledge of both Latin and Greek derivatives and their usage in the English language. More than 2,700 students took the exam.       

All awards will be presented to the students in May.
