Summit sophomore's art represents district 27

Zari Gillispie, a sophomore in the Upper School, had her visual artwork selected to be displayed as part of the 2022-24 Ohio House of Representatives High School Student Art Exhibition. Zari’s piece entitled “Zendaya” created with Adobe Illustrator was chosen to represent district 27.

“I am so proud of Zari sharing her artwork at the Ohio House of Representatives for this impressive two-year show,” art teacher Sam England shares. “I am thrilled that she was selected to represent our district and that her artistic talents will shine at our state capital.” This exhibit is comprised of 99 artworks, one from each district, installed in the frequently used hallway connector from the Verne Riffe Center for Government and the Arts to the Ohio Statehouse.

At a reception on October 1, 2022, Sam England and the Gillispie family were in attendance to celebrate the talents and representation of district 27. “Her illustrator skills are excellent and her portrait of Zendaya sends a positive message to all viewers,” Mrs. England states. The exhibition in Columbus is now open to the public during normal hours of operation.

The Ohio House of Representatives High School Student Art Exhibition is sponsored through the partnership of the Ohio Arts Council, the Ohio Art Education Association and the Ohio House of Representatives.
