Summit student receives $1,000 scholarship

John Trokan, a sixth grader at The Summit Country Day School, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority for his science project "Do Hot or Cold Conditions Affect Whether the Black Swallowtail Overwinters or Not in the Chrysalis Stage?"

Dr. Patrick Guerra, an assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati, spoke with John after the State Science Fair and Guerra told him he was impressed by his younger colleague’s “enthusiasm and knowledge of entomology.”

John builds off an already impressive showing that The Summit had at the fair.

Summit received the Harold C. Shaw Memorial Outstanding School Award. Of the 176 schools that participated in the program only 14 can lay claim to the award, The Summit being among those schools. Read more on that story here.
