Two recent graduates of The Summit Country Day School were given awards at their commencements recognizing their spiritual development and Christian leadership.

The St. Julie Billiart Award is given at graduation to seniors who exhibit the ability to love and bring love to others and possess a selfless nature, joyful disposition and dedication to The Summit community. The award went to Jimmy Stines, Loveland, and Jessie Headley, Anderson Township.

Teachers who nominated Jessie for the award called out her passion for helping others, generosity of spirit, selfless nature and joyful disposition. They said she exemplifies the hallmarks of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, the order of nuns who founded The Summit in 1890. One nominator said: “She is a crusader for social justice and strives to be an ally for all and to do the right thing even when the right thing is not easy to do.”

Jessie will attend St. Louis University this fall.

Teachers who nominated Jimmy for the award called out his faith, humility, leadership, positivity and gentlemanly behavior. They noted he volunteers to serve at almost every Mass. “Jimmy Stines admiringly lives his faith,” one nominator said. “It is rare to see a young man carry himself in this way.”

Jimmy will attend Denison University this fall.
