For the 11th time in 15 years, The Summit’s Latin Team has earned the most Overall points at the annual Ohio Junior Classical League (OJCL) state convention. As state champions with 1,068 Overall points, Summit also placed third in Total Per Capita points and third in Academic Per Capita points. This event brought together 340 teachers, students and other adults from 23 schools across the state of Ohio. 

The team sent to compete consisted of 28 students. “The success of the Summit Latin team was a result of a consistent effort in all areas of competition,” says Larry Dean, longtime Summit Latin teacher. 

The Summit has been in state leadership positions for 26 consecutive years. Current senior Kori McLane is in her second year on the Board, serving as Editor; current junior Hana Conte served as 2nd Vice President and has been elected President; current freshman Manu Cantillo has been elected Treasurer; Summit Class of 2017 Tullus Dean completed his third year as State Chair of Convention and Technology; current Latin teacher and Summit Class of 2005 Lisa Mays completed her seventh year as the State Chair of Students.
