The Summit’s Mia Stevens ‘26 has been announced as the 2025 Gatorade Ohio Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating the nation’s best high school athletes for their excellence in sport, academics and community.
As a senior midfielder and forward, Mia led the Silver Knights to a 22-0-2 record and the Division IV state championship. She scored 34 goals and passed for 18 assists, setting up a goal in the state final as The Summit beat Columbus Academy, 4-0. Mia netted 10 game-winning goals on the year and concluded her prep career as the program leader in games-played (93), goals (72), assists (42) and points (186). The two-time Ohio Division IV Player of the Year, she was also a 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-American selection.
Mia volunteered locally as a youth soccer coach and gained the respect of coaches across the region.
“There are plenty of great strikers, outstanding playmakers and dominating defenders. The piece that separates Mia is her complete game, where she fits all categories. No matter the team or division, Mia would have been the star,” said Theresa Hirschauer, head coach of Cincinnati Country Day School.
After the Silver Knights three-peat championship season, Coach Mike Fee said of Mia: “She is one of the hardest working players on the team, and when you have your most talented player work as hard as she does, that pays dividends for the rest of the team.”
Mia maintained a 4.07 weighted GPA and is committed to playing soccer on scholarship at The Ohio State University this fall.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one state winner from each of the 50 states and Washington D.C. In total, 610 high school athletes are honored each year. From the pool of state winners, one national winner is selected in each of the 12 sports. The selection process is administered by the Gatorade Player of the Year Selection Committee, which leverages experts including coaches, scouts, media and others as sources to help evaluate and determine the winners.
As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year also receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner. To date, the Gatorade Player of the Year program has provided more than $6.4 million in grants to winners across more than 2,200 organizations.
