In an announcement this week, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce named two sophomores to its 2023 Regional Youth Leadership (RYL) class. Caden Charville '24 and Laura Matos '24 will represent The Summit during the eight-month program.
Meeting monthly, students will be introduced to a variety of topics such as arts and culture, diversity and human services, economic development, health, law, leadership, and local government. They will use the community as a classroom to collaborate with local business and civic leaders to enhance their educational experiences and complement their classroom learning. RYL is designed to motivate and empower youth to make a positive difference in their communities. The end goal is to inspire youth to live a life dedicated to effective and compassionate leadership, selfless volunteerism and responsible citizenship.
To be considered for RYL, Caden and Laura demonstrated their high academic standing, leadership potential and an interest in furthering their knowledge about the region and community leadership. Ideal candidates for the program like Caden and Laura are curious, good listeners and comfortable networking with peers and adults.
In all, 30 schools in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are represented by 45 students in the class of 2024. For the list, click here.
