Two seniors advance to finalist round of Coca Cola Scholarship Program

The senior class at The Summit Country Day School has two members now named as semifinalists in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program.

Irene Calderon and Jimmy Fraley were among just 1,617 high school seniors selected from a nationwide pool of over 68,000 applications. Criteria for the prestigious scholarship is based on academic excellence, leadership and service demonstrated in school and community activities.

In the next round of the selection process, Irene and Jimmy will submit essays, a recommendation and transcripts for review by an independent selection committee. If chosen as a regional finalist, they will participate in online interviews. The committee will name 150 Coca-Cola Scholars in March; these outstanding seniors will receive $20,000 college scholarships and participate in the Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Development Institute facilitated by program alumni.

A joint effort of Coca-Cola bottlers across the country and The Coca-Cola Company, the Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the United States.
