Summit Country Day sophomore Zaina Kamran qualified for competition at Ohio's science day and received “superior” scores on her project. Zaina will present her poster at the State Science Day: A Celebration of Science on May 11 at The Ohio State University. She is among a number of Summit students whose science projects have been in competitions around the state and country in the past two months.

In the biggest service-learning project of the year, Summit Country Day School students took a symbolic walk Wednesday to raise awareness of a global water crisis in developing and impoverished countries. The annual Hands Across the Water event is now in its 15th year. The Summit community has raised more than $10,000 in this year's campaign as fund-raising continues to support the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur (SNDdeN) Clean Water for Life Project.
Six student athletes at The Summit Country Day School signed commitment papers to play on college teams this fall. The signing ceremony attended by family, friends and teammates on Thursday, April 18, mirrored a ceremony in November when six other Silver Knights signed their papers bringing the total collegiate athletes in Summit’s Class of 2024 to 12.
Two Summit students won gold key awards and three won silver key awards in the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Three additional students distinguished themselves at Scholastic and Mount St. Joseph University contests.
The Summit Country Day School hosted A Good Knight’s Sleep, partnered with Corryville Catholic and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) on April 6 to provide 50 kids with new beds. Through the Bob and Sylvia Rahe Mattress Fund, SVDP’s Beds Program provides a mattress, box spring and frames to families who might otherwise be sleeping on the floor. This is the first year that The Summit, home of the Silver Knights, has hosted this event.
The Summit Country Day School has appointed Kirstin McEachern, Ph.D., Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs, interim Upper School Director for the 2024-25 school year. She will replace Kelly Cronin who will retire at the end of this school year. A national search for a permanent Upper School Director will continue to fill the Upper School position for the 2025-26 school year.
