Experiencing excellence is a priority we uphold for all students here at The Summit. For many, excellence is achieved through our Middle School band program.

Experiencing excellence is a priority we uphold for all students here at The Summit. For many, excellence is achieved through our Middle School band program.

On any given day you can walk through the lower Level of the Middle School and hear everything from Bach to contemporary music scores. Our instrumentalists perform in concerts as a full band or in ensembles and as soloists. Not only will you hear them play in traditional concerts, you will also hear them at art shows, Halloween Costume Parades, football games, basketball games and competitions. Our students learn to play their instruments with precision while developing the composure and perseverance needed to perform at high levels.

Kids don't have to have experience to be in The Summit band. We’ll teach them. And if they already play an instrument, they can be leaders here. Robert Browning, who conducts our band program, had 26 years of experience in instrumental music education before joining The Summit in 2016. He's taught conducting on the university level and has been a trumpet teacher and a high school band director. From an introduction to instruments in the fourth grade, your student can learn to play flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone or baritone in the fifth grade and branch off to other instruments in the sixth grade. Skilled children have the opportunity to play in the Ohio Music Education Association Honor Band.

Band at The Summit is a vehicle through which passions are explored and excellence is achieved.
