Welcome International Students
The Summit Country Day Admission Office is pleased with our ongoing success with international recruitment. We average 20-30 international students in our Middle and Upper schools each year. When working with our international educational partners, one of the greatest needs is assistance with finding host families. As these agencies search for host families who might be interested in opening their homes for these students, each agency first seeks to find families within The Summit community. As a part of our partnership, we assist with the process and first ask our own Summit community to see if there is any interest in hosting these students.
Host families are asked to provide these students friendship, moral support, and basic family needs: weekly room, board, breakfast, dinner, as well as transportation to and from school. Host families will be financially compensated for providing the basic needs for the international students. The monthly stipend for host families is typically in the $800-$900 a month range. These students will have their own health insurance and are responsible for any medical and dental costs not covered by their insurance.
All international students are responsible for their own lunches during school days, meals away from home, school supplies, optional travel, personal items (such as haircuts, clothing, entertainment, etc.) and all other living expenses. Weekend and holiday arrangements are up to both the host family and the student. If for any reason, the host family cannot keep the student, the agencies will arrange necessary contingency plans for the students.
