Brotherhood values dedication in class, on field

If there is a theme for The Summit Country Day’s football program, it’s “family.”

The program prides itself in competing as a unit and growing throughout the course of a season. The Silver Knights’ football brotherhood values improvement on the gridiron and motivation to take the team to new heights.

The Summit advanced to the football playoffs every season from 2010-2014, 2016 and 2019 but its 2012 campaign was particularly special. That team posted a 10-0 regular-season record, won the program’s first Miami Valley Conference league title since 2008, captured the first playoff win in Summit football annals, advanced to a second playoff game and finished with an 11-1 record.

Summit football has built on that winning tradition, churning out four winning seasons in a row from 2016-2019.

Coach Dave Wirth's first season at the helm of The Summit Country Day football program was in 2021. He brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to the role. Mr. Wirth has served as an offensive line coach, a defensive coordinator and then a head coach at Hamilton Badin and Covington Catholic in Kentucky. Throughout his career, he has enjoyed on-field success, rebuilding Badin back into a GCL, city and state power and rattling off three 10-win seasons at CovCath. Coach Wirth has received numerous coaching awards and distinctions.  He is also a religion teacher in the Upper School.
