Boys' Tennis
Competition and personalized instruction
The Silver Knights’ varsity team competes each spring against a mix of Miami Valley Conference peers and Division I talent. The Summit also has a junior varsity team.
The program affords opportunities for competition, personalized instruction and quality team bonding. The Silver Knights have taken August trips to the Western & Southern Open in Mason to watch world-class tennis and bolster camaraderie.
In 2016 doubles partners Jared Hochwalt ’16 and Calvin Spanbauer ’16 advanced to the Division II state semifinals. During her senior year, Elizabeth Fahrmeier '21 became the first girl to compete in the boys' state tournament. She was injured during the girls' fall season so she played against boys in the spring instead.
Scott McIntosh took over The Summit’s boys’ tennis program in 2014. A lifelong tennis player, he found his passion in guiding young players to improve their game: "I honestly enjoy coaching all levels, from the player who has never touched a racket to the high-level players who qualify for state competition."
Coach McIntosh is assisted by Jared Crider.
