Individuals Muscle Way into Records
The Summit’s varsity wrestling history includes a pair of Miami Valley Conference team championships (1999 and 2000) but individual endeavors have taken a more prominent position in the program recently.
Junior Jack Stewart finished his sophomore season as a first-team all-MVC selection at 145 pounds.
Prior to that, Joshua Campbell ’17 finished his senior season as one of the most decorated athletes in program history. He won a Division III sectional championship, placed second at districts and punched The Summit’s first ticket to the state wrestling meet since 2004.
Even though growth remains a primary goal for the program, Summit’s varsity wrestlers have reaped the benefits of individual attention, a close-knit group and participation in quality out-of-town tournaments.
Coach Rob Schaaf leads the wrestling program. He’s also a Math and Social Studies Teacher in the Harold C. Schott Middle School at The Summit. Rob is assisted by Joe Pollitt.
