Enquirer lists Sydni Brooks, Henry Schertzinger and Kim Horning among all-stars

Recent Summit Country Day graduate Sydni Brooks, second from the right, was named girls’ track and field athlete of the year in Division III.

Recent Summit Country Day graduate Sydni Brooks was named girls’ track and field athlete of the year in Division III. Brooks’ classmate Henry Schertzinger was chosen as the boys' lacrosse player of the year in Division II. Girls' Track and Field coach Kim Horning was named coach of the year in Division III.

Sydni finished ninth in the state in the 400-meter dash, was on the Silver Knights’ 4x200 team that finished sixth at state. Sydni was also a state qualifier in the 4x100.

Henry was an all-American in boys’ lacrosse, player of the year, player of the year in the region and Miami Valley Conference player of the year. Henry and his brother Harrison are playing lacrosse at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill next year.

Coach Horning led the Silver Knights to a Miami Valley Conference and district championship before a sixth-place finish at regionals.

Baseball: Infielder/pitcher Eric Fisk was named first team. Brennan Gick and Nick Nazzaro were named to the second team. Wil Eads and Chris Kahle received honorable mention.

Boys Track: Scott Kinross (1,600 meters), Brian DeWine (3,200) and Michael Warden (shot put) were named first team. Kinross, Elijah Weaver, Dan Shisler and Matthew Brumfield (4x800), Liam Jones, Sam Vessel, Ellis Ramsey and Zack Watford (4x200), Kinross, Weaver, Vessel and Watford (4x400) were named to the second team. Jones, Vessel, Alonzo Motley and Ramsey (4x100), Weaver (800) and Evan Lakhia (3,200) received honorable mention. 

Girls Track: Niah Woods (100-meter dash), Victoria Wilhelmy (1,600 meters), Brooks, Nakyah Kennedy, Sophia Young and Woods (4x100), Brooks (400 meters), Catherine Coldiron (3200 meters) and Hailey Harrell (long jump) were named to the first team. Coldiron, Anna DeRoussel, Maria Luiso and Wilhelmy (4x800), Brooks, Kennedy, Leah Neltner and Woods (4x200), Lauren Jones (300 hurdles), DeRoussel (800 meters), Brooks, Harrell, DeRoussel and Rachael Montgomery (4x400) and Jones (high jump) were named to the second team. Luiso (800) and Woods (200) received honorable mention. 

Tennis: Patrick Casanas was named to the second team. 

Boys’ lacrosse: Will Doran and Eric Kroencke were named to the first team. Michael Rafi, Ruben Tolble and Davis Whiting received honorable mention. 

Girls’ lacrosse: Sydni Black was named first team. Maggie Harsh, Abby LaMacchia and Katie Chamberlin received second team honors.
