Summit CDS eighth grader wins Middle School spelling bee

Eighth grader Logan Miller was the winning speller in The Summit Country Day School’s annual Harold C. Schott Middle School spelling bee.

Eighth grader Logan Miller, Ft. Thomas, Ky., was the last speller standing in a field of 25 spellers who participated in The Summit’s annual Harold C. Schott Middle School spelling bee on Jan. 9 in Kyte Theater.

Logan became the winner after six rounds and outlasted spellers in grades 4-8. He spelled the following words to earn champion status:  loaf, boasted, dormer, antagonism, armada and bronchitis.

From there, Logan takes a 50-question online test. If he scores well enough on that digital exam, Logan qualifies for the WCPO 9 On Your Side Spelling Bee in March. The next step is the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. The Summit has a rich history of sending its students to the bee.
