Summit Middle School students win Excellence in Acting award

Fifth graders Kadyn Keeney and Hana Conte won an Excellence in Acting Award at the Junior Theater Festival on Jan. 18-20 in Atlanta.

Two fifth graders in The Summit Country Day School’s Harold C. Schott Middle School won an Excellence in Acting Award at the Junior Theater Festival on Jan. 18-20 in Atlanta. 

Kadyn Keeney, Covington, Ky., and Hana Conte, Anderson Township, performed with 3,300 other students from 28 states and five different countries.

Kadyn is also in the Junior Musical Theatre program at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM), studies piano, voice, tap, hip hop, parkour and practices Taekwondo.

In addition to acting with the CCM, Hana plays the flute, studies dance (ballet, jazz and tap) and is very active in the fifth grade Girl Scout troop. She also played Chip in the Middle School musical this fall. 

The Junior Theater Festival (JTF) is the world’s biggest and best celebration of young people performing musical theater.
