Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)

What is the SGO?

The State of Ohio allows taxpayers to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax CREDIT on their Ohio income taxes equal to the amount they donate to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). That means if you donate $50, you receive $50 credit towards your Ohio state income tax liability.

Who can take advantage of this law?

How is this different than an outright gift?

A: If you make a qualified donation to The Summit through the SGO, you will receive a tax CREDIT, which will reduce the amount of Ohio income tax you are required to pay. We encourage you to consult with your tax advisor to determine your eligibility for the tax credit and how it could benefit both you and The Summit. Please note, gifts made to the SGO cannot be applied to pledges made to The Summit.
