Mrs. Katy Gallagher
Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher
Year started: 2019
Degrees: B.A., Middle Childhood Education, The Ohio State University; M.Ed., Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University.
Experience: I worked as a Middle School English Language Arts Teacher for six years prior to The Summit. For four years, I worked for publishing companies creating educational products for middle and high school students.
Memberships: Certified Google Educator, National Council of Teachers of English.
Inspiration: I have always loved working with kids. I began teaching swim lessons as a young teenager and knew early on that I wanted to become a teacher. Having an opportunity to teach and share my passion for history and language arts (yes, even grammar!) is truly a blessing. I was drawn to The Summit when my husband and I first moved to Cincinnati. It has an amazing environment that I would like my son to grow up within. As a teacher at The Summit, I value the opportunities to individualize instruction and help students grow as a whole person in an academically stimulating school.
Philosophy: I believe creating a safe and engaging learning atmosphere is essential in the classroom. I want my students to know that they're in a positive environment where we are a community of learners that grow from one another. In this type of classroom, students of all learning styles can thrive.
Personal: My husband, James, and I have one son, JP. We love to travel and spend time outdoors. I am a fan of swimming, cooking, and reading. I am enjoy volunteering for my parish.
