Ms. Yngrid Alvarez
Year Started: 2001
Degrees: B.A., Ohio University
Awards: Buckeye Chapter Coordinator of the National Spanish Examination; Member of the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Publications: “The Chilling Adventures of a Piano Student” (Babel Books.)
Experience: 5 years in education prior to The Summit: past coordinator of Inclusion and Diversity Committee;
Inspiration: I became a teacher because I really needed an audience. Then the audience started really listening and responding to my style. Now, I let them come up to the stage once in a while so I can be their audience. I love it! I believe that The Summit chose me. They needed a Spanish teacher, I applied and got the job. I was new in town, and I did not hear about The Summit's wonderful reputation until I started telling my friends about my new job. I knew I was in good hands.
Philosophy: I believe in interdisciplinary activities. When teachers work across the curriculum, students learn better.
