Extended Day
Extended Day
The Extended Day program provides a safe, supervised and interactive environment for Summit students during the transition time between the end of the school day and home. It serves students in Montessori through Middle School, beginning at age 18 months through sixth grade. Matching the mission of our school, this program is designed to be an extension of the school day. The activities are fun, and reinforce each child’s development in the five pillars of our school.

Extended Day Grades 2 - 6
Students will have a snack, with a brief period of physical activity followed by active assistance with homework and studying with the supervision of a Summit adult. This is not a tutoring session; rather it is an opportunity for your child to complete homework in the presence of and with the assistance from a Summit adult.
The faculty of The Summit Country Day School believe in the importance of the parent/ school connection and therefore expect that all parents will continue to review their child’s homework each evening as a way of staying connected with the child’s educational progress.
3:15-3:30 p.m. Dismissal from school. Supervised by faculty for physical activity (outside, weather permitting).
3:30-3:45 p.m. Students are provided a light snack.
3:45-4:45 p.m. Homework and quiet work will be supervised by a Summit adult.
5 p.m. Students will be dismissed to a parent (or authorized caregiver). Those students not picked up at this time will join the group in the extended day room or playground, weather permitting
Pick-up is no later than 6 p.m.
