Homework Start: Grades 1-8
Registered students will gather for a brief period of physical activity, a healthy snack, and then one hour of group homework assistance and supervision. A Summit adult will provide active assistance with homework and study as needed for students in grades 1-8. This is not a tutoring session; rather it is an opportunity for your child to complete homework in the presence of and with the assistance from a Summit adult. The service will begin Monday, Sept. 9 for the 2019-20 school year. Sign up for Homework Start is available here. It's a great way to get and keep your child on track and reduce "homework stress" at home.
The faculty of The Summit Country Day School believe in the importance of the parent/school connection and therefore expect that all parents will continue to review their child’s homework each evening as a way of staying connected with the child’s educational progress.
3:15-3:30 p.m.: Dismissal from school. Student may be taken by Homework Start faculty for physical activity (outside - weather permitting).
3:30-3:45 p.m.: Student provided with healthy snack, consisting of a piece of fruit, a snack (for example, baked apple chips, pretzel, granola bar, low calorie Oreo cookies, bagel, cheese and crackers) and water in the Lower School Cafeteria.
3:45-4:45 p.m.: Homework Start begins in the Middle School Library.
4:45: Students will be dismissed to parent (or authorized adult) from the foyer of the Middle School building. Those children who remain following dismissal will be taken to the Extended Day room in the main building for parent pick up by 6 p.m. at no extra charge.
