Upper School: Preparing for a Lifetime of Success
The Summit's Upper School provides and abundance of opportunities for students in grades nine through 12 that prepare them for success in college, careers and life. Among our outcomes, a majority of our graduates are accepted into their first-choice college and 89% of young alumni report they are better prepared than their peers.
In a culture of extraordinary care attuned to the needs of each student, our highly trained faculty challenge students to reach their full potential. Our rigorous curriculum includes 22 Advanced Placement classes, the unique-in-city Science Research Institute, signature programs and an emphasis on character-based leadership.
A no-cut, no-pay athletics policy allows guarantees every student can play. Our competitive atheltics programs consistently send top athletes into state competition and we deliver collegiate athletes at a rate that is times higher than the national average. Every year, we have multiple students signing to Division I schools.
But life at The Summit is not just about academics and athletics. Our five-pillar, faith-based mission emphasizes spirituality, social-emotional wellness and artistic expression as well. Students here can reach their potential in arts, music, and drama.

Powerhouse Science Department
The Summit’s powerhouse science department has put a number of recent graduates on a fast track to careers as engineers, scientists and doctors. Summit Science faculty offer real-world career experience, advanced education and special educational experiences in materials-rich laboratory environments.
Science Research Institute
The Science Research Institute is college preparatory program unique to The Summit is designed for students who plan to seek degrees and careers in the sciences. The program aims to increase scientific literacy through three sequentially tiered classes and an authentic laboratory research experience.
A rite of passage for many Summit students, Chapel Talks is the culmination of a rigorous oratory program called SOLEIL. The program is an attempt to deliberately sequence oratory practice starting in the freshmen year. Each student works closely with a faculty member who helps them hone their message.
